There is an Ego in Your Big Toe

They tell me look to the East and there is Buddha, Tao, Krishna, Zen, and all the half-naked bikini men. They tell me look to the West and there is Christ, Moses, and star-studded cast of holy-holy with a side of instant guacamole. They tell me now look to TV, and there is Fox, CNN, New York this and New York that and everything Mollywood glitz. Then they tell me the Law of This and Law of That but my body knows much better.

It is a beautiful, magnificent creation of wisdom, power, mystery, and beauty. It contains knowledge, knowing, and more knowing. That is its purpose. That is our purpose. To be in flesh. To experience a physical world with all the wonder and fascination of an animal. To play, create, develop, grow, learn is the Path. Then why pay attention to those outside who seek to tell us about ourselves when our bodies know? Do they know more than me about MY body and MY existence? I say not. I say not.

For hundreds of years, we have studied, prayed, listened, read, killed and died over the words of holy men and women who tell us to look to God, get rid of your ego, and all sorts of disciplines, rituals, and techniques that have been in part a journey of free will and mass confusion and chaos at the same time. Without question, those paths have been great 'lessons' for many souls in their lifetimes but can be a blight upon the light of an evolving species.

What does this mean? I say love your ego as your flesh. Don't try to get rid of It. Listen to your impulses. See where they lead you. The harder you try to get rid of your ego, the weaker you will feel in your circumstances. See the ego in your big toe. Let it wiggle through your body. You have it for great reason. Those who told us to get rid of our ego, sacrifice ourselves, were using their egos to tell us!

Now there is an 'outer ego' that can become a trap, or box, a fence around you. Limiting it can be because it does not represent your greater identity. That is why all the half-naked holy men in the world would, "Lose your ego." But I say don't listen to anyone who tells you to lose something, and get rid of your ego. You are here to use it, experience it fully, and remember yourself as a blessed being of All There Is. As you get to know your body, you will ultimately realize you are more than your body.

Without guilt, there is nothing to lose. How does a belief in guilt serve you? You are here to be You in all your light and dark. Embrace that. It is part of your ego development. We have been taught these Ideas, archaic though they, and passed down to us by kind spiritual bedfellows, nice religious folks. Who am I? That is the adventure of consciousness. To love thyself is to know thyself. Delete the guilt stuff from the script.

Love your ego as your big toe and you will remember the joy of life is not in giving up or giving in. Then you will look at your marvelous flesh, that light being in the mirror, and say, "WOW! It feels good to be me!" No holy book, teacher, guide, or dogma can tell you what your the soul of your flesh knows. Enjoy!
